My name is Bruce Erickson and I have been taking photos for many years. To see my old slides along with my dad Elmer's and Joel's go to the "History" category.

I just added a category in memory of Gary with 4 galleries. We will miss him very much.

Gary; 1945-2009 : Gary; my brother, my hero and my best friend. You left us much too soon on November 8, 2009. I am so blessed to have had you as a brother and I will miss him so much. Gary was always happy, positive and encouraging. He had the ability to see the beauty around him and share in detail everything he saw. A walk in the woods with Gary was an educational experience that helped you understand the wonder of nature. Gary made friends with everyone he met, making everyone feel equally important, observing small details, saving them for future hilarious stories expounding as no one else could making you laugh until you cried. Gary could also be serious and sensitive, understanding the value and real meaning of a personal relationship. “You couldn’t have a better friend.” Gary being the middle child connected Joel & me together to coordinate things we did to occupy our time growing up. We worked hard together but also had a lot of fun because the farm was a wonderful place to grow up. Because we didn’t often see other kids we learned very early we had to get along together and have remained very close throughout our lives. We would use our imaginations to create our own entertainment and play scenarios building elaborate sets and toys with our dad & mom’s help. We went to a country school down our driveway and many of the friends we made there remain today. Gary & I started harmonizing early in grade school and soon we started singing in church which was usually accompanied by Gary on the guitar. The guitar was always his first love and he would play every free minute, especially when he was supposed to be out helping us with the farm work. He practiced so much everyday that sometimes it became aggravating but soon we came to enjoy the songs he played. His guitar playing and singing added fun and enjoyment enriching all our lives. We enjoyed the Fosston Baptist church and the friends we met there and always went to vacation bible school at Lake Bronson in the summer. Cross Lake & Lengby Lake were our summer hangouts when we didn’t have to work. We continued singing at events in school, church and social events mainly as a quartet with Allen Rud and Ross Taflin. Gary was very popular, a good student, and excelled in basketball (where he broke his leg) and track where he was an exceptional high hurdler. After high school Gary continued his education at the U of M where he received his degree in Wildlife Biology and continued working with his interest in wildlife throughout his life. Gary was the Charismatic leader of our extended family & friends and always seemed to be the one that we relied on for planning & organization. Gary was our music, humor and inspiration and I am not sure now if anyone can asume this role but hopefully we can still keep our relationships and traditions going, but of course nothing will ever be the same again.
